If you are an IT professional, student, secretary, or person using a network that bans users from certain IM applications then the following websites may be of some use. Below is a list of Web-Based Instant Messaging Websites. They are web based in the sense that you just need a browser and each site varies depending on the IM services they provide. Unlike other websites that require you to sign up, sit for an hour while they send you a confirmation email, these sites will let you start using it as soon as you input your IM screen name and password.

For those of you who are more adventurous, you may want to check out the following website that helps you set up an IM client for your website. Personally, we have not used this but it looks pretty if you are actually able to sign to the demo.
Undoubtedly, there are many other build-your-own-IM engines out there. So to each their own.
Since this list is probably not comphrensive, I will gladly add any other IM websites that provide the user with the ability to simply sign in and start using the service without having to dawdle with registering with the website first.
